nowhere more than here right now

2010
Site specific installation at Outpost, designed by Olson Kundig. A response to the walled garden, reminiscent of historical paradise gardens which might be considered as a site of utopian desire, longing for paradise or perfection, or a lush and verdant oasis from the harsh exterior conditions. "nowhere more than here right now", was installed with the freezing snowdrifts of winter, and composed of thousands of hand-cut blossoms tied to the bare branches of a fruit tree, recalling a story in which St. Francis of Assisi comes across a leafless, dormant almond tree in the dead of winter. He asks the tree, "Sister, speak to me about God," and instantly, the branches erupt into snowy white blossoms.
